A Conan Exiles soup guide will take you on a journey of stews and broths. There are over 800 consumables in Conan Exiles, so it’s challenging to narrow it down to what you want to eat.

Soups are decent options because you can make soup out of almost anything. But I think what they do best is quench your thirst and satiate your hunger so you can use them instead of grabbing some food and water. This frees up inventory space and makes caring for your physical needs easier in battle. Keep reading this Conan Exiles Soup Guide to know all about it!

Conan Exiles Soup Overview

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (3)
  • The basic Soup is made with Purified Water, Feral Flesh, and Salt
  • You need to be level 29 to make Soup
  • You need a Casting Table, Furnace or Charcoal Kiln, and Stove to make soup
  • There are 15 non-gruel soups in Conan Exiles
  • Most soups heal for 4HP/3s
  • The average Conan Exiles soup grants 41 hunger satiation and quenches 13 thirst
  • Gruel is better for thralls than players

The Basic Soup in Conan Exiles

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (4)
  • 1x Purified Water
  • 1x Feral Flesh
  • 1x Salt

Soup, which is named Soup, is the easiest soup to make. But if you’re under level 29, you won’t be able to make it as you need the Stove knowledge. Though that doesn’t mean you can’t prepare for it.

Purified Water

This is the most annoying ingredient in soup. To make it, you need to go through a few steps, which takes ages, especially the first few times when reusing bottles and gathering crystal all the time.

1. Make Glass

The first step is to make glass in a Furnace or Charcoal Kiln with crystal. You need two crystals per one glass. The three best crystal farms are near Hanuman’s Grotto, south of Howling Plateau, and in the Passage.

2. Make a Glass Flask Mold

To make the Glass Flask Mold, you need a Casting Table and some iron. Iron spawns all over, but if you’re struggling, check my go-to – south of the Tower of Bats. Once you smelt iron in the furnace or kiln, take 15 of it and make a Glass Flask Mold in the Casting Table.

3. Make Glass Flask

Once you have three glass and the mold, you can make a Glass Flask. To do so, use the Casting Table again to make the Glass Flask by putting the glass in the table with the mold. This is the easiest step.

4. Fill the Glass

If you live near water, put the flasks on your hotbar and then “use” them you are in the water. Or, if you have an Alchemist Bench, you can fill them there, which is super fast too. The third option is to melt ice in the fire to fill them, which is a strange and time-consuming option.

5. Purify the Water

To purify the water, put the water-filled glass flask in the Stove. This takes five seconds per flask, but once you do that, it’s done. Thankfully, to do everything, you only need the Stove knowledge unlocked.

Feral Flesh

Feral Flesh is easy to get because everything and its cousin has it. From snakes to spiders to hyenas, the desert is littered with Feral creatures that give you Feral Flesh. Farm it as soon as you can to stack it up.

Salt

Salt is not intuitive to make because you have to search for the recipe rather than gather it. You can use crystal to make it, but I highly recommend stone even though it takes five times more. Put it in the Grinder, and you’re done. The Grinder has its own knowledge, but you only have to be level 17 to make it.

Every Soup in Conan Exiles

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (5)

In this list, I will list the foods that would fit into the soup category in real life. For example, the Lasting Feast (an amazing food) takes soup to make, but they obviously just used it to marinate the meat in the game.

Then some foods don’t take soup to make but are definitely soup, as told by the description and/or picture. So, this list is for those wondering, “what’s that one soup in Conan Exiles?”

Aloe Soup

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (6)
  • Ingredients – 1 Soup, 1 Aloe Leaf
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking II (on a tower south of Skyholme Ruins)
  • Hunger Sated – 41
  • Thirst Quenched – 13
  • Effects – Sated
  • Expires – 45 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook: Aloe Soup is not one I make because I use my aloe to make healing potions. But if it’s all you have, then it’s a cheap soup to make.

Bone Broth

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (7)
  • Ingredients – 1 Soup, 1 Bone
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking VI (The Summoning Place)
  • Hunger Sated – 41
  • Thirst Quenched – 13
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 45 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook: Bone Broth is a soup and an ingredient to make even better soups. It’s another easy soup to make too since bones are common.

Dafari Bug Soup

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (8)
  • Ingredients – 1 Soup, 5 Handful of Insects, 1 Fat Grub
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking I (The Summoning Place)
  • Hunger Sated – 43
  • Thirst Quenched – 14
  • Effects – Sated, Cooling Down, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 45 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook: Dafari Bug Soup isn’t that special. But it does use bugs, which you won’t use for many other foods. Plus, insects expire in ten minutes, so this prolongs their life.

Exquisite Stew

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (9)
  • Ingredients – 1 Soup, 1 Savoury Flesh
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking IV (Mounds of the Dead)
  • Hunger Sated – 41
  • Thirst Quenched – 13
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 4 HP/3s
  • Expires – 45 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook: Not really. I don’t recommend this one because there are better uses for Savoury Flesh. But if you’re in a pinch, it doesn’t hurt to make it occasionally.

Feast of Mitra

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (10)
  • Ingredients – 1 Lingering Essence, 1 Soup, 1 Herbal Tea, 10 Honey
  • Knowledge – High Priest of Mitra
  • Hunger Sated – 174
  • Thirst Quenched – 42
  • Effects – Regenerating, Sated, Heals 17HP/3s
  • Expires – 2 hours

To Cook or Not to Cook: Yes. If you have the means, do it because this is such amazing food. You have to be level 50, but it’s well worth it.

Feast of Set

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (11)
  • Ingredients – 2 Reptile Hide, 1 Soup, 1 Spiced Tea
  • Knowledge – High Priest of Set
  • Hunger Sated – 172
  • Thirst Quenched – 40
  • Effects – Regenerating, Sated, Heals 17HP/3s
  • Expires – 2 hours

To Cook or Not to Cook:This soup is even easier to make than Mitra’s, and it’s just as good. Make it.

Fiery-Hot Meat Soup

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (12)
  • Ingredients – 5 Exquisite Meat, 5 Rare Spice
  • Knowledge – Pirate Cuisine (Buccaneer Bay)
  • Hunger Sated – 47
  • Thirst Quenched – 10
  • Effects – Sated, Warming Up, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 1 hour

To Cook or Not to Cook:No, it’s so overpriced. Exquisite Meat and Rare Spice deserve so much better, even if this is a special Pirate Cuisine.

Hearty Stew

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (13)
  • Ingredients – 1 Exotic Flesh, 1 Soup
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking V
  • Hunger Sated – 41
  • Thirst Quenched – 13
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 45 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook:No. Unless the Exotic Flesh is about to expire and you don’t have ingredients for anything else. This will reset the timer on it.

Lumpy Soup

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (14)
  • Ingredients – 1 Raw Pork, 1 Soup
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking X (bench at Drifter’s Rest)
  • Hunger Sated – 47
  • Thirst Quenched – 13
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 1 hour

To Cook or Not to Cook:Lumpy Soup is another one like Hearty Stew. It’s only good if your meat is going to spoil.

Mushroom Stew

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (15)
  • Ingredients – 1 Soup, 1 Shroom Amanita, 1 Puffball Mushroom
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking IX (Lian’s Watch)
  • Hunger Sated – 43
  • Thirst Quenched – 14
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 45 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook:Yes, but only to make Cimmerian Feast. Don’t eat the soup unless it si going to go bad; save it for the incredible feast.

Mystery Meat Soup

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (16)
  • Ingredients – 3 Human Flesh, 1 Bone Broth
  • Knowledge – Base
  • Hunger Sated – 43
  • Thirst Quenched – 14
  • Effects – Sated, Health +60, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 45 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook:No. But you can purchase it at Sepermeru for 1 Silver Coin. There are better Silver Coin purchases, but it will do if you’re nearby and hungry.

Rhino Head Soup

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (17)
  • Ingredients – 1 Black Rhino Head, 1 Exotic Flesh, 1 Soup
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking V (Trapper’s Cabin)
  • Hunger Sated – 72
  • Thirst Quenched – 14
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 7HP/3s
  • Expires – 1 hour, 30 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook:I’m torn on this one, but I lean towards make it because there aren’t many uses for Rhino Heads.

Seed Soup

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (18)
  • Ingredients – 1 Soup, 1 Seeds
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking III (Mounds of the Dead)
  • Hunger Sated – 41
  • Thirst Quenched – 13
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 45 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook:Again, not really for or against this. But since it only takes seeds, if you have an a abundance, then make it.

Spiced Soup

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (19)
  • Ingredients – 1 Soup, 2 Spice
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking I (Summoning Place)
  • Hunger Sated – 41
  • Thirst Quenched – 10
  • Effects – Sated, Warming Up, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 45 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook:Though it doesn’t fill you up much, it does keep you warm. Since all you need for spice is bark, I’d say this is a win.

Yellow Lotus Soup

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (20)
  • Ingredients – 1 Soup, 1 Yellow Lotus Blossom
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking VII (Muriela’s Hope)
  • Hunger Sated – 40
  • Thirst Quenched – 12
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 45 minutes

To Cook or Not to Cook:Yellow Lotus Blossoms don’t have a ton of uses, so this soup isn’t a bad option. I once lived near a field of these and gathered hundreds a day, so I used them for everything I could.

Gruel – It’s a Soup

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (21)

Don’t be afraid of the truth. Gruel has always been considered a soup because it’s a watery mixture of consumables. I put it in its own section because of how important it is compared to the other soups.

Gruel

  • Ingredients – 5 Plant Fiber, 1 Seed
  • Knowledge – Base
  • Hunger Sated – 9
  • Thirst Quenched – 4
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 1HP/3s
  • Expires – 1 hour, 20 minutes

Gruel is made for thralls because it increases strength gain chance per level by 14%. So Gruel is not for players but is the best and easiest food for thralls when taming and leveling.

Enhanced Gruel

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (22)
  • Ingredients – 1 Gruel, 1 Egg, 1 Spice
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking III (Mounds of the Dead)
  • Hunger Sated – 33
  • Thirst Quenched – 12
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 3HP/3s
  • Expires – 3 hours

Enhanced Gruel doesn’t spoil as fast, but it isn’t terrific compared to standard. I don’t recommend making it unless you have a ton of eggs because standard Gruel is just as good for thralls.

Flavored Gruel

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (23)
  • Ingredients – 1 Gruel, 1 Dried Berries, 2 Spice
  • Knowledge – Specialist Cooking I (The Summoning Place)
  • Hunger Sated – 25
  • Thirst Quenched – 10
  • Effects – Sated, 2HP/3s
  • Expires – 2 hours

Flavored Gruel is straight-up not one I would ever choose. But if you have the berries and want to make your Gruel last longer, then is a good way to go. You might as well save on seeds by making the gruel last longer.

Honeyed Gruel

Conan Exiles Soup Guide: Cook Some Soups, Eat Bread - Conan Fanatics (24)
  • Ingredients – 1 Enhanced Gruel, 3 Honey
  • Knowledge – Base
  • Hunger Sated – 45
  • Thirst Quenched – 14
  • Effects – Sated, Heals 4HP/3s
  • Expires – 4 hours

Honeyed Gruel is the only advanced gruel I recommend because it lasts four hours. That is insane in Conan Exiles, but it makes sense considering honey is immortal. If you have the ingredients to follow the steps through Enhanced Gruel to make it here, then it will pay off.

FAQs

Question: What is the Best Soup for Thralls?

Answer: Thralls can eat any food, but gruel is specifically designed for them. It is easy to make and serves thralls well. However, it’s one of the worst foods for players.

Question: What is the Best Soup in Conan Exiles?

Answer: The Mitra and Set soups are the best in the game. They require level 50, but they are worth it because they grant over 170 hunger and heal for 17 HP over three seconds.

Question: Should I Make Soup or Other Foods?

Answer: That depends on the ingredients you have. A lot of Conan Exiles cooking is about controlling spoil timers and using the ingredients you can access. Make the food right before the ingredients spoil.

Getting All Fat and Sassy with Hyborian Soup

Soup may be a base ingredient in Conan Exiles, but now you know it’s so much more. It is used to make dozens of other foods that can sustain you, heal you, keep your body temperature neutral, and even give you a boost.

Although you can make all kinds of soup, my favorite soup to eat is the kind I find on NPCs. For example, the Frost Temple giants sometimes have soup that keeps you warm. What I don’t recommend is getting your heart set on one food because, in a game like Conan Exiles, you do what you need to to survive.
