Titania (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) (1)

Titania, aka Mary McPheeran (Jameela Jamil), is a recurring villainess from the MCU/Disney+ series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Backstory[]

Mary McPheeran was born in a suburb of Denver, Colorado, and was given the nickname "Skeeter" by popular girl Vanessa Ashwood, due to Mary's scrawny stature (as a result of being born prematurely). Mary's only friend was Marsha Rosenberg, who was also her co-worker, and at some point, Marsha witnessed the superhero Spider-Woman in action, and informed Mary that she had the same features as Spider-Woman.

In response to Marsha's statements, Mary told her friend that she was Spider-Woman, but it was followed by Marsha spreading Mary's lie all over school. As a result, Mary became popular and was invited by Vanessa to one of her lavish parties. During the party, the group's section of Denver was removed from Earth and became part of the composite planet known as Battleworld, where superheroes and supervillains battled each other.

It was at this point that the actual Spider-Woman appeared and saved the guests from a falling structure, but upon seeing Spider-Woman, Vanessa and the guests berated Mary and Marsha for their false story and chased them into the Battleworld forests, where the girls hid out. Afterwards, the girls were found by supervillain Doctor Doom, who needed more metahuman operatives to further his plans. Mary began turning heel and agreed to work for Doom in exchange for superpowers, with Marsha following suit, and after receiving metahuman powers from Doom, Mary fully turned heel and became the supervillainess Titania, with her powers centering on super strength, while Marsha took on the heel persona of Volcana,

Titania (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) (2)

Titania's main nemesis in the comics was She-Hulk, as she was obsessed with outdoing She-Hulk when it came to super strength. In the events of the TV series, Mary McPheeran works as a fashion designer and influencer, and in her first appearance in the premiere episode, "A Normal Amount of Rage," Mary busted in a courtroom where Jen Walters was performing her duties as a lawyer, with Mary doing so under her heel persona as Titania and attacking the bailiffs in charge. Jen later shifted into She-Hulk and took down Titania easily, with the fight resulting in the public knowing about Jen's identity as She-Hulk.

However, Titania suffered humiliation from the loss, and the end of episode 1.04, "Is This Not Real Magic?," revealed that Titania was suing Jen for the rights to the She-Hulk name, claiming that she trademarked the name for her products, with the following episode, "Mean, Green, and Straight Poured Into These Jeans," revealing that Titania had been using the umbrella name, "She-Hulk by Titania." The villainess ended up countersued by Jen, though the trial saw Jen's hatred of being called "She-Hulk" used as an attempt to discredit her. After Jen's past blind dates were called as character witnesses to Jen's use of the She-Hulk name, Titania lost her case, but afterwards, the villainess ominously informed Jen that it wasn't over between them.

In the following episode, "Just Jen," Titania appeared as a surprise guest at the wedding of Jen's childhood friend, Lulu, leading Jen to warn Lulu that Titania's appearance was only motivated by her desire to get back at Jen. Titania shoots down Jen's statements and convinces Lulu that Jen was not a motive for her appearance, but later on, the evil Titania attacks an inebriated Jen, while ordering her to become She-Hulk so she could get her revenge. Jen does so and brawls with Titania, which ended with the villainess falling on her face and damaging her veneers, resulting in Titania walking off in sheer embarrassment.
